Der Uetzer Landfrauenverein, zu dem auch die Ortsgruppe Dollbergen gehört, hat einmal mehr Besuch aus England. Der Kontakt besteht seit 1990, also seit 25 Jahren. Es hatte mit einem Besuch bei den Familien in England begonnen. Aus vorsichtigem Kennenlernen sei Freundschaft entstanden, erzählt Inge Römmert in ihrem Rückblick bei der Bilderschau im Siedlerheim. Seitdem hatten jährliche wechselseitige Besuche und gemeinsame Unternehmungen das Verständnis füreinander vertieft. In diesem Jahr sind ein Dutzend Frauen und ein Mann zu Gast, darunter auch Valerie Stevens, die 82-jährige Bezirksleiterin Europa des Weltverbandes (ACWW, Associated Country Woman of the World).
Die Ansage im Siedlerheim ist zweisprachig, doch die gezeigten Bilder sagen mehr als Worte und Lächeln ist ohnehin international.

In den vergangenen Tagen waren die Damen viel mit dem Bus unterwegs, berichtet die Uetzer Vorsitzende Edda Labinski. Heute findet das gemeinsame Abschiedsessen statt, es wird gegrillt, und am Abend sorgt eine Abteilung des Burgdorfer Chantychores für akustische Gemütlichkeit. Übermorgen reisen die Besucher wieder auf ihre Insel.

The Associated Countrywomen of Uetze, and the local group of Dollbergen, got another visit from England. The contact has persisted for 25 years, starting in 1990. It all began with a visit of families in England. From a first cautious meeting arose friendship, Inge Römmert says in settler’s hall, when she talked through the review picture show. Since then alternating visits and joint adventures allowed the understanding for each other to grow. This year a dozen women and one man are guests here, among them Valerie Stevens, the 82 year old Area President Europe of the ACWW.
Although the announcement within the settler’s hall is bi-lingual the pictures shown are self-explanatory and a smile is always universal. In the last couple of days they were traveling by bus a lot, the chairwoman of the Countrywomen of Uetze said. Today they gathered one last time, with BBQ (Barbecue), and later a small division of the Shanty Choir Burgdorf will do their best to create an atmosphere of familiarity and comfort. The day after tomorrow the visitors will return to their island.
